Last year, we came up with this poster as a statement by migrants and refugees around the world against the Global Forum on Migration and Development.
The GFMD has talked about migration as a tool for development yet apparently neglecting the very stakeholders whom they should be consulting and working with primarily – the migrants themselves.
Talking about remittances yet leaving out the very conditions of migrants and refugees themselves. Discussing about agreements yet ignoring the very cause of this phenomenon of labor export.
This year, their third meeting will happen in Greece. And the migrants and refugees are following them.
Nothing seemed to have changed in their mindset and strategies. Nothing then has changed with ours.
Their vision of development is our slavery. And this should end.
