Bangkok

I went to Bangkok and was it safe.

Suan Lum was less than 15 minutes walk from where I was that late afternoon. Mosquitoes greeted from all sides and I enjoyed their company. It was teeming with beautiful products and items originally Thai. (I was happy they did not have H&M. I am hoping they wouldn’t.)img_1925_renamed_11571

Khao San was a rowdy place of 100baht shirts, cheap beer, second hand books and good backpacking culture. The term good is used in a very very kind-natured way.

As soon as I shot this image of Bangkok slums, the taxi driver quickly quipped: Manila, Bangkok same same. Abcdefg, Number 1. Hijklmn, Number 2. Hijklmn, only for Opqrstu, not for Vwxyz.img_2023

This is Sirirat, on the other side of the river. Less tourists. Better food. More Thai flavor. It looks like Sultan Kudarat, except they speak and write Thai.

Bangkok is not Bangkok if it is not traffic. I definitely enjoyed the pink taxi.

In the Philippines, we would call it traysikel. In Bangkok, they call it tuktuk. Tuktuk is much more spacious and can drive into the busy highways of BKK.

I like Bangkok. Despite the sham and drudgery, its noise and haste, it is still a beautiful place.
